Old Habits Die Hard

English Language Café and Multi Kulti Collective are happy to invite you to a special evening focused on the nature of habits.

 The „What, Why and How” of habits

„Habits are automatic behaviours that we do effortlessly, without even thinking about them. Changing them, however, is challenging, whether we try to lose old unwanted ones or adopt new ones. In our brain, there are remarkable processes to control our behaviour, for example, stopping an action that's not quite right or overwriting a plan when we face an obstacle. But can these help us with the challenge of habit change as well? Together, we'll explore the complex interplay between our automatic and controlled behaviours and get a glimpse into the science behind habit change”, our host Kata explained.

After listening to Kata’s intriguing lecture, we will enjoy some healthy snacks and herbal tea. Then we will partake in a one-hour session of English language exchange in small groups.

Our host Kata is from Hungary. She received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology in 2023, with a dissertation focusing on habits and executive functions in healthy young adults. She is currently working on the evolution of intelligence with researchers at Lund University, Sweden. She moved to Bulgaria about 6 months ago; before that she lived in New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Australia and around Europe.
