Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship
The Organisation:
The Bulgarian Platform for International Development (BPID), uniting 23 Bulgarian civil society organizations, is the only platform in Bulgaria that brings together experts from different fields to work together on matters related to international development cooperation, global citizenship education and advocacy for policy amendment and implementation on national and regional level.
The Project Bridge 47 - Building Global Citizenship
The EU-funded Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship project aims to mobilise global civil society to contribute effectively to global justice and eradication of poverty through global citizenship. The project started in October 2017 and will continue until October 2020.
The project Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship has been developed by a Consortium consisting of two global networks (CIVICUS and ICAE), three national development education networks (in France, Ireland and Scotland), six national CSO platforms (in Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Slovakia and Slovenia), four organisations active in GCE (in Cyprus, Denmark, Latvia and Serbia),and a European research network (EADI).
The project work is distributed under 4 main areas for action:
1) Creation and sustaining of Bridge 47 Network
2) National and international advocacy efforts emphasising on the essential role of GCE in delivering the SDGs is reflected in UN, European and national policies and implementation plans
3) Partnerships with stakeholders including other CSOs and researchers, policy makers, private sector, and other
4) Innovation and capacity development
Overall description of the position:
The National Coordinator (NC) responsibilities are mainly related to the implementation of activities, of the second area of the action. Activities in the framework of the other project areas might also be planned and implemented. The NC is the leading expert for all fundraising activities related to BPID and particularly to the project.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the project is aligned with all the requirements set by the donor in relation to the project and that the Action is completed within the available budget and fulfill the set outputs and outcomes
- Leasing with all the project partners, and other project stakeholders
- Tracking the progress of the project implementation
- Keeping track of project budget compliance and communicating arising issues with the steering committee and donor.
- Organising selection procedures of freelance staff
- Control the financial relationship with subcontractors and freelance staff
- Control that all project costs are related with corresponding spending documents
- Elaborate interim and final reports in accordance to the requirements of the donor (narrative and financial)
- Maintain the communication with the assigned staff of the partner organizations
- Prepares a timesheet of the working hours spent on the project
- Ensuring procurement schedule in accordance with the requirements of the donor and in compliance with the national legislative requirements
- Coordinate the involvement of the BPID members in the project activities
Requirements:
- University degree in political sciences, humanities, economics ore relevant
- Additional courses in the area of international development, global education or other relevant to the areas of the project will be an asset
- No less than three years’ professional experience in project implementation, EU-funded projects
- Knowledge of project cycle management
- Strong knowledge of development cooperation and global education issues
- Availability to travel extensively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent English
- Self-starter with strong self-motivation and a proven capacity to work in team
- Result-oriented approach
- Prior experience in work in the area is an asset
Terms of contract: March 2018 – September 2020
Salary is a subject of negotiation
